yep, that's right: i'm thirty three years old, and last month was my first ever time staying in a villa abroad. once our late-summer flights to the dalmatian coast were booked, finding a place to stay couldn't have been easier; with the help of international accommodation site clickstay, finding a villa to rent in croatia for a few days was as simple as filtering down the just under ten thousand private options from the very budget friendly, to the very, very out of my budget (sadly, because dayyyyum, some of those places are dreeeeamy!), and booking.
i'm not going to lie: i choose this one-bedroom villa in the area of seget donji for the main reason that it had a lot of purple in the pictures on the website, as well as a balcony view over the adriatic sea. the listing also claimed that the beach was less than 30m away from the villa, which was a bonus for sure (not for swimming, for breakfast views, duh), a private parking space, and was close to both the airport, and the centre of split. seemed like a no-brainer, really! i requested the dates of our trip, then sat back and waited.
once the booking was confirmed, i got to planning the rest of our stay. i needn't have bothered though, as anamarija, our host, was more than helpful when it came to that side of things. not only was she able to help us out with some incredible restaurant recommendations prior to our stay, but she also went out of her way to arrange a private boat trip out to the islands for us for one of the days of our saty. when that plan sadly fell through (weather and anxieties got the better of us!), a back-up suggestion to head to krka national park was another of her ideas, and one that absolutely worked out in our favour.
the villa itself was perfect for what we needed on our trip. it was so close to the town centre of seget donji; where we ate for dinner a few nights; which had everything we needed in the way of supermarkets, petrol stations, and cafes for us to while the hours in while it rained torrentially on our days out; which had everything we needed to stay comfy while we were indoors. breakfast on the balcony was the most amazing way to start our days, and the bed was perfectly comfortable to fall into after a long day driving around the country. all in all, we couldn't have asked for a more ideal place to stay in croatia, and now that i've broken the seal, i am counting down the days until my next villa stay (literally: 118 days).. trust me: i'm all about that villa life now.
