leather boots from new look* | dress*: asos | shirt + belt : primark | leather jacket*: just jeans
looks like summer's over guys. how do i know? because for the last few weeks, the one item i was starting to wish i had in my shoedrobe, was a pair of leather chelsea boots. the rain, the cold, the wanting to layer up and wear my leather jacket, all the things that support the need to wear boots again. i still have a pair of tan flat boots from last season which are nearing the end of their lives, but the comfy, go-with-everything black boots i had from two seasons ago, were finally done away with in the great move. they were almost sole-less (like their owner, hur hur), let the water in, and were becoming pretty uncomfy becuase of the slant i'd worn into the heel.
so, when the opportunity arose to replace my beloved with a brand new pair, how could i resist! i opted for black over tan, as i think come winter, the black will be a lot more complimentary. and, to be honest, i don't really have a lot of black in my shoedrobe, so it is a bit of a novelty for me. i love the way the block heel lengthens my stumpy legs immediately, so that's a massive bonus too.
layering up this simple summer dress with a shirt and leather jacket instantly gives that a/w look that i think the boots wholly support, and for bonus points, they're pretty damn comfy too! i opted for the wide fit as sometimes i struggle with a narrow shoe boot. foolishly, i also opted for a size up from what's necessary - i usually do this with boots anyway, to allow for extra tights and socks for warmth, but in the case of these ones the wide fit or the size up would have been fine, not a combo of the two.
oh well, it's nothing a thicker pair of frilly socks won't solve.
