recipe :: steak sandwiches
so.. this is more of a 'food' post than a 'recipe' post. it's hardly rocket science, the old steak sandwich, but nevertheless... here we go.
you'll need
- 4 minute steaks
- 4 ciabatta loaves
- olive oil
- 2 slices of bacon
- spring onion//red onion
- mushrooms
- bell peppers
- chilli pepper//garlic
- grated cheese
- salad filling
how you'll do it
i made two versions, because boyfriend is picky, and i guess... so am i. so to make a manly version: 1. cook off red onion, bacon, mushroom and chillies in a frying pan (no oil) until the bacon is cooked through 2. throw the steaks on top of the mixture to pick up the flavours from the pan 3. turn over after a minute (the beauty of minute steaks!) 4. cut open 2 ciabatta, drizzle with olive oil 5. take steak off heat, slice to fit the loaves and layer with mixture from the pan 6. add cheese and serve (with chips, duh)!
and to make a lady-like version: 1. cook off spring onion, 2 cloves of garlic and 2 bell peppers in a drizzle of olive oil on a low heat 2. brown 2 steaks on griddle pan//george foreman grill, for a minute on each side 3. cut open 2 ciabatta, drizzle with olive oil 4. take steak off heat, slice to fit the loaves and layer with mixture from the pan 5. add salad 6. serve and enjoy!
